What is an authorization period?
An authorization period is typically a 30-day period during which you can purchase your medical allotment of cannabis. The number of periods depends on the duration of use on the medical document. Following the current Health Canada regulation improvements Shoppers has removed the 30-day limit for patients. Click here to read more details.
When does my authorization period begin?
The start date of your first authorization period is determined by the anticipated delivery date of your first order. Every subsequent period is calculated 30-days relative to this first start date. What is a medical allotment deduction?
A Medical Allotment Deduction is the number of grams that will be deducted from your authorized monthly medical limit when you purchase a product. For dried cannabis flower, 1 gram of flower is equal to a 1 gram Medical Allotment Deduction. Gram for gram, products such as edibles, oils, creams, and vapes have a greater concentration of cannabis than flower does, so they are assigned a Medical Allotment Deduction greater than their physical weight based on their concentration and cannabinoid content. This equivalent amount is the medical allotment deduction.
Why does my package list a different gram equivalency then what is listed on the website?
The value listed on the packages is related to possession limits: the amount of cannabis, in grams, that you can legally possess in public at any time. That value is standardized for products such as vape cartridges, and can be different from your medical allotment deduction.
